John serves as a design team member at JRA and specializes in material research, assembly, construction processes. He has worked on a wide variety of projects from single family residential to governmental and higher education projects. Born and raised in Iowa, John has a Master of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania to add to his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Iowa State University. His interest in material research and post-industrial environments have earned him numerous honors including the Charles F. Bowers Studies in Architecture and Culture Award from Iowa State University, recognition by the AIA National Associates Committee, and a featured project in Center: Architecture and Design in America, published by the University of Texas at Austin. His hobbies include wrenching (and riding) motorcycles, bouldering, bicycling, reading, and travel.
